Quality comes from doing a few basic things well, and avoiding doing lots of things in an average way. I recently had a very mediocre experience at Quiznos that got me thinking about why, when certain things become too complicated, they lose their effect.
Like software or good companies, when the basic underlying ingredients are not good, it’s impossible to make something good out of it. And the difference really is apparent. Let’s compare Quiznos to one of our favorites, Potbelly’s.
Wow, that’s a lot of stuff. Even the classic “secret special sauce” thrown in. What is signature about their seasonings? My guess is that there’s a greater chance of snow in hell then those poblanos roasted by an actual fire. Pure marketing blather.
Turkey Breast with Swiss Cheese
That’s it! Straight and simple, looks like food. And it tastes like food.
And oh and by the way, Potbelly’s is half the price. The choice is easy.
